Mullvad
A WireGuard-focused VPN with account-number signup, a flat EUR 5 monthly rate and a five-device allowance.
Suited to Buyers who prefer a flat monthly commitment
Facts checked November 5, 2026
Our assessment
Worth considering for buyers who prefer a predictable month-to-month price, account-number signup and WireGuard-based desktop/mobile use without a long subscription commitment.
That simplicity is a reason to consider it, not proof that it is the cheapest option for every person. Compare the time you actually expect to use a VPN and the total amount you would pay. A low advertised equivalent is less useful if it requires buying years you do not need.
This is a documentation-based assessment checked on 5 November 2026. No hands-on speed, streaming or leak-test results are claimed. Review the linked sources for the intended device and the current purchase terms.
A good fit when
- You prefer a predictable monthly price without a long subscription commitment.
- You can use WireGuard and want account-number signup.
Look elsewhere when
- Your router or workflow requires OpenVPN.
- You require VPN port forwarding or more than five devices on one account.
What the service includes
Flat monthly price
Mullvad publishes a standard EUR 5 monthly rate including VAT, without reducing that monthly rate for a longer commitment.
Account-number signup
An account supports up to five devices. Signup generates an account number, and the pricing page lists payment options including cash.
WireGuard focus
Mullvad announced complete OpenVPN removal for January 15, 2026, including server support. Its current approach is WireGuard rather than an OpenVPN fallback.
